What Your Body Needs
Your body needs different things at different ages. When you are younger, your body can get away with a lot. You can really use your body and it will bounce back pretty easily. But as get older, you need to give yourself more love and special care so that you will stay healthy and feel great well into your golden years. If you take care of yourself, you will be able to avoid unpleasant things that affect the elderly.
In Your 30s
In your 30s you already start to notice a few wrinkles, especially around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. Stress will increase the chances of developing wrinkles so try to find ways to reduce stress in your life. You also produce fewer hormones, get a slower metabolism and will find that weight creeps on more easily. Fertility also decreases and you will be at an increased risk for diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Your bones will also tend to weaken, so it is important to take calcium supplements and to drink plenty of milk. This is the time when some can have the symptoms of Early Onset Arthritis.
In Your 40s
Once you reach 40, your risk for many health conditions tends to increase. You may find that your vision is starting to worsen, so it’s a good time to go to the eye doctor. You should also wear sunglasses whenever you go out to help protect your eyes from damaging UV rays. You also need to make sure that you get plenty of fruits and vegetables, which are full of good stuff like vitamins and antioxidants. Muscular degeneration is a major cause of blindness, but a diet rich in lycopene, which is found in fruits and vegetables, can help to slow down vision loss substantially. You should also keep an eye on your blood pressure, body weight, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels. You lose about one percent of your muscle mass every year once you hit age 40, so incorporate some weight training into your workout routine. You should get plenty of exercise, and it’s a good time to sign up for an exercise class.
In Your 50s
At age 50 you should get your immunizations, get screenings done and talk to your doctor if you have any concerns. You should have a physical exam done every couple of years as well as a dental exam and screening every six months. Be sure to exercise daily and to eat well. Limit the consumption of unhealthy food and get plenty of fruits and vegetables into your diet.
In Your 60s
When you are in your 60s, you are at a higher risk for heart disease, osteoporosis, and incontinence. You should be aware of the warning signs for stroke and heart attacks so that you will know what to do and be prepared. Keep up to date on your immunizations and screenings as well. You may also find that your joints are giving your trouble. There are many supplements and foods that you can take that will help to improve the function of your joints and will help to give you more mobility.
You should also quit smoking if you are a smoker, as just doing this alone can add many years to your life. Heart disease is also high at this age you want to maintain a healthy weight and drink alcohol in moderation. Get your regular check-ups and keep your brain busy by picking up a hobby and doing intellectually challenging activities such as crossword puzzles to help keep your brain sharp.
Get An Early Start
It is important to start good, healthy habits as young as possible. That way when you get older, you will already be in the habit of taking care of yourself. Plus, you will be able to enjoy the great benefits of healthy living throughout your entire life. Live life to the fullest which means having a healthy mind and body. If you develop good habits when you are young, it is much easier to stick with them when you are older. You only get one life, so you want to live it to the fullest. It doesn’t take much to do that, but it helps to start early on.
